Author: roy sherman Subject: Interested in the general opinion on a Windmill Class for beginners Info: (14971 views) Posted: Monday 4-25-11 09:42:50 AM |
Make sure the boat has tanks. I love the boat however if you are sailing someplace with shifty winds you may turn it over. Not the end of the world if you have tanks. Some of the older wood boats do not most do be sure to get one that has tanks. I love wood boats and find them to be stiffer then the glass boats. They do take more maintenance then a glass boat. I believe it is one of the few boats out there that two adults can sail together that is not so complicated that you need a high wire star to crew for you. All classes will tell you why you should race there boat. Each has great reasons.
And the people are just great that sail windmills.
:: My wife and I are new to sailing and have been eyeing a
:: older wooden windmill class sailer. Boat has not been in
:: the water for quite a few years (over 10).
:: I would like the general opinion of this boat for
:: beginners.
:: The lakes we have here in Texas can be tricky to sail
:: with variable winds and directions.
:: This would be our first and only small sailer till we
:: get enough experience to upgrade to a larger yacht in
:: the future.
::
:: Any kind opinions appreciated.
