Great to see so many Windmills for a local event. I counted six on the parking lot. Unfortunately the wind picked up to a roar. It was over a mile upwind to the start area and many boats elected to come back early when the water turned a milky white and the waves became steep and high. Most 'Mills flipped at least once, but all survived to sail another day. The Ravens got there by outboard engine and never raised their mainsails. Two Daysailers made it out there, but others decided it was not fun. I reefed my Raider, kept the jib furled, but still had to luff the mainsail upwind. It is a tribute to the Windmills and their crew that they were able to keep sailing. The Race Committee wisely cancelled all racing. Was fun getting back down wind to the club.
