First the Al masts and booms are a lot less mantince.

Two the wood booms and masts do not have any way to run controls internal so halyads have to be on the outside.

Three the wood masts are not as stiff as the aluminum and curently no one has put spreaders on them to help control bend.

Last I am curnetly working on retrofitting a wood mast with spreaders to try, if it works I will publish what I did and how it worked. But then everyone knows I am a little strange.
